Road Trip 2012; Saturday 10/6

171 miles, and still camped in Cory's driveway.

Car shopping, microbrew cruising, and wine tasting were on the activity list for today.  As it turned out, all three were in Eugene, Oregon.  First up, car shopping.  Cory's truck died earlier this week.  He has a Chevy S-10 with over 190,000 miles on it, and the transmission decided to croak.  That was the final straw.  Time to look for a different vehicle.  He had his eye on a Subaru Outback, and found one on Craig's List that seemed to fit the bill.  We drove up to Eugene to check it out.  It's a 2008 with 60,000 miles and turned out to be in excellent condition.  Cory cut a tentative deal and made a deposit.

Next up, we went microbrewery hunting.  Eugene is a college town, and much like Boise, Idaho, is a hip, dog friendly and bike friendly city.  The weather was turning out to be a beautiful warm and sunny Fall afternoon.  The first stop was Falling Sky Brewery.  We picked out a beer, ordered a snack, and sat outside in the sun.

Next we headed to Ninkasi Brewing Company to sample a beer.  There is a home football game today and the patio was crowded with green and yellow Oregon fans, as well as purple Washington fans.

Later in the afternoon, we headed to Sarver Winery for a tasting, where we met up with Cory's girlfriend, Molly.

We ended the day with a tasting and a phenomenal dinner at the King Estates Winery.

Guess that's all for now.  What a way to spend a leisurely Saturday.......
