Fall Western Trip 2015: Badlands and Rushmore

Thursday, 9/24:  Today we visited the Badlands National Park.  It was a dismal overcast day, so the colors were not as vivid as hoped.  But in any event, the scenery and geology were amazing.

Later that afternoon we went to downtown Rapid City.  We found an exceptional store to shop in called The Prairie Edge Trading Company.  The store specialized in Native American art and craft work.  Just down the street from that, we found the Firehouse Brewing Company, where we stopped for a local brew.  We grabbed a couple stools at the bar, and what do you know, the young couple we met at the Badlands Saloon and Grille the day before in Wall were seated just around the corner from us.  Small world!  We again struck conversation.  They said we were right about Wall Drugs.  They didn't last 15 minutes there.

Friday 9/25:  A visit to Mount Rushmore National Memorial was today's activity.

Tomorrow we are off to Livingston, Montana and a trip to Yellowstone National Park.
