Catching up with RV friends in Lexington, Kentucky

Sunday the14th and it's time to move on.   There was light traffic on I-79 and I-64.  I-79's winding and hilly Interstate path south through the mountains was not Judy's cup of tea.  Turning west on I-64 the route leveled out and was pleasant.  We parked at the Huntington/FoxFire KOA in Milton, WV for 2 nights.  I discovered this park in May when I was traveling alone and Judy was attending her daughter's wedding.  Monday was a "down day" for us.  We needed it.  After the pace of the RV Show, and keeping up with the grandkids activities, we needed time to relax and catch our breath.

Tuesday, September 16th:  We're camping at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in Lexington, KY for 3 nights.  We have stayed here many times over the years.  The campground is part of the Kentucky Horse Park that includes stables, show arenas and an Equine Theme Park with daily activities.

There are over 260 sites at the campground, all with water and electricity only.  The sites are large, and al  require a bit of leveling, some much more than others.  The park was very busy with lots of equestrian riders taking golf carts back and forth to the event center.

Our stay here was to catch up with friends Dennis and Lisa.  We met this wonderful couple several years ago when we were camping in Carrabelle, Florida.  I was walking Parker one day and we came across another Golden Retriever his same age and size.  It was friendship at first sight for both the dogs and the adults.  Since then we have stayed in touch and connect annually.  Dennis and Lisa are another example of folks we have met RV'ing and have become lifelong friends.

We had so much fun in Lexington and Richmond, where Dennis and Lisa live.  There were dog dates at the huge dog park at the campground, golf cart rides around the beautiful development where Dennis and Lisa live and wonderful conversation.  They are such a wonderful couple to know.

Kentucky Horse Park is a beautiful facility.  The pup and I even caught a hore jumping event on one of our walks.

We had dinner at the campground to celebrate our last night with Dennis and Lisa.

Tomorrow we move on to Indiana and Illinois as we head toward almost 2 weeks in Wisconsin with family, friends and exploring Door County.  Stay tuned.
