First stop, Quebec City KOA. But slow down, I'm getting ahead of myself.
Just about this time last year, I was in Oregon working on an archeological dig. Zoey, my Golden Retriever, and I had the truck camper. My girlfriend Judy flew out to Oregon and made the ten day return drive back to Gouverneur with us. It was a fun time.
Fast forward twelve months. Judy is now my fiancé, and we have a brand new 5th wheel camper to road trip in. Zoey, eight now, is still along for the ride, but she has been joined by a traveling friend as well. Judy's dog is a beautiful four year old Alaskan Malamute. Would you believe, her name is also Zoey. Go figure.
The road trip this year is shorter than my previous ones, only sixteen days. Judy is still working and has limited days off. When she retires next year, things will be different. We will travel to the Gaspé Peninsula in Quebec. Then we will stop at the Bay of Fundy National Park in New Brunswick. After Bay of Fundy, we will head over to Acadia National Park in Maine. Finally, we will stop for several days in the Scarborough, Maine area to visit friends. The anticipated route looks something like this:
Judy's sister Susie, and her husband Al, are traveling with their camper along with us.

The trip today turned out to be a perfect day of traveling. I had been nervous about the border crossing into Canada. We decided to cross at Ogdensburg. It turned out to be easy. There was no waiting in line. We just drove up, answered a few questions, and were on our way. I had been nervous about the Montreal traffic. That turned out to be quite easy. We took the 30 East bypass around the south side of Montreal, and it was simple. An earlier stop at the Welcome to Quebec Information Center had rewarded us with GREAT assistance in the form of maps, suggestions, and ideas.
We arrived at the campground about 3:30 and quickly set up. In fact, the sites are so level, we didn't even unhook. Just put the jacks down to stabilize. It was sunny and in the mid 70's. Dinner was warmed up ziti and salad. Time to decompress!! We shared a campfire and were in bed by 9:00.
Wednesday its on to Rimouski.
