Texas, Here We Come: Dallas and Waco

RV life is tough.  😉

Friday, February 28:  As we left the Sunrise RV Park in Texarkana, Arkansas this morning, we passed through downtown Texarkana.  It's a unique city in that a north/south highway, State Line Avenue, divides the two states, Texas on the west and Arkansas on the east.  Bowie County on the Texas side is a dry county, meaning no alcohol sales.  That is not the situation for the Arkansas side.  So all the liquor and beer stores are on the east side of the street.   Read more about this relationship HERE.

We had a nice 2 hour drive to the Dallas Northeast RV Park in Caddo Mills, Texas.  As the name implies, it is a suburb of Dallas and the park is a short 30 minute drive to downtown Dallas.

Site L-3

Beautiful view of the pond.

This RV park is a new find for us,  and it is really nice!  Again, like many of the campgrounds we have visited on this trip, the long term sites were almost full.

Our head colds and nagging coughs are still lingering, especially the cough.  We really don't feel sick, just lethargic and the nagging cough is driving us crazy.  But the warm weather is a real "pick me up".  I got some well needed exercise walking Maggie and Parker around the quarter mile path circling the pond.  We would definitely stay here again.

There were numerous turtles out sunbathing.

Heron fishing for breakfast.

Pond with campground in the background.

Late one afternoon we were invaded by a "cloud" of blackbirds.

We had some beautiful night skies and were rewarded with stunning sights of the moon and Venus.

It's March 3rd and after 3 wonderful days in Caddo Mills, we move on to Waco, Texas where we are staying at Magnolia RV Resort for 3 nights.  The stop is another new find, and it truly is a resort.

Site G-9, Magnolia RV Resort.

Almost all the monthly sites are full, with many cars and trucks leaving between 5:00 and 8:00 every morning for work.  A school bus even picks and drops off a few kids every day.  The huge pull-thru transient sites are only 10% full.

This campground consists of 2 sections.  The older section is wooded.  The current owners resurrected the older section and added a new section only a couple years ago.  We stayed in the new park.  This satellite view shows the 2 sections.

Many of the long term sites were shaded.

After a relaxing 3 night stay in Waco, we are off to Peach Country RV for a 14 day stay in the Texas Hill Country where I hope we can finally rid ourselves of these colds and really relax.

I've felt a bit guilty that we haven't been getting out and doing more.  But........just because you travel doesn't mean you have to visit every attraction.  Would we be doing that back at home.  No!  We would be using the day to do a few chores, read, write, cook and other mundane things.  That's what we are doing now;  all those little things we do at home, but with warmer weather.  The old and creaky bones seem to work better here.   So yes, we are lovin' our RV lifestyle!!
