Spring Trip 2015: West Virginia, Hamlim Beach, and Home.

Friday, 5/29:  337 miles and "camped" in the driveway of Matt and Jaime Sipher.

Frankfort, Kentucky to Matt and Jaime Sipher, Shinnston, WV
West Virginia

Another Interstate day.  I-64 to Charleston WV, and then I-79 north to Matt and Jaime's home in Shinnston.  We hit the Walmart in Frankfort to do some grocery shopping and restock the camper.  Then we were on the road by 9:30.  It was a beautiful drive.  Traffic was light, and the tress are so green compared to when we left the northeast 25 days ago.

We were about a half hour from Matt's house when the skies opened up and it poured.  It was still sprinkling when we pulled up their long driveway, but by the time we were parked and leveled, the sun was shinning.

Saturday and Sunday, 5/30 and 5/31:

We had a wonderful and relaxing time with Matt and the family.  After traveling for almost an entire month, this felt like being home.

Monday, 6/1:

388 miles and camped at Hamlin Beach State Park, near Rochester, NY.

From Matt's to Hamlin Beach State Park
Hamlin Beach State Park, site 25

Tuesday and Wednesday, 6/1and 6/2:

We spent three nights at Hamlin.  We had arranged to meet Susie and Al Meyer with their camper at Hamlin.  Susie is Judy's sister and we took a 19 day Canadian trip with them last year.  They are great traveling companions.

I discovered we were having a serious tire wear issue on the camper.  In West Virginia Matt and I had put the spare tire on to replace one that had abnormal wear.  Now I discovered that two others had serious wear to the point that the belts were showing.  Not good!!  I called around and finally found a Goodyear dealer who had replacements on hand.  I removed the two bad ones and by Wednesday morning had the new ones back on the camper.

Wednesday we drove to nearby Brockport and had lunch at the Stoneyard Brew Pub, which is located right on the Erie Canal.  Judy and Susie did some shopping while Al and I sat and watched boats go by.  We even got to see the bridge raised several times to let boats pass.

Thursday, 6/4:

218 miles and we're back home!!

We had a great time.  Oh, there were a few "hiccups" along the way, but that's all part of the adventure.  And best of all, we got married in Oregon.

So, the trip summary looks like this:
     **  31 days
     **  19 States
     **  7,450 miles traveled

Now to rest, recover, get the camper repaired, and plan out next trip.
